“WALKING OFF THE MAP”

Coming through this Open-Door year, we inevitably step into the unknown, facing all the reasons to avoid the unknown and pushing past them.

Yes, the unknown is scary, but when we can’t see the steps ahead, our trust in God and faith increase, for we walk with Him, eliminating our need to find safety-nets.

Stepping into the unknown is common practice for God’s people.

The Bible’s numerous stories tell of those called who let go of the known and step into mystery: Joseph, Moses, David, Peter, and Paul. All these ordinary people simply trusted God as they stepped into the unknown, finding an extraordinary outcome. And Truth remains undeniable: God still has a good plan, even in the unknown (Jer. 29:11).

God’s ways and “new thing” aren’t like our familiar, old, “safe” ways (Isa. 55:8); and nothing that the unknown presents to us is impossible with God (Lk. 1:37).

So go through the Open Door this year, embracing His Word while stepping into mystery:

“Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own.

Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health, your very bones will vibrate with life!

Honor God with everything you own; give him the first and the best. Your barns will burst, your wine vats will brim over. But don’t, dear friend, resent God’s discipline; don’t sulk under his loving correction.

It is the child He loves that God corrects; a father’s delight is behind all this”.

(Prov. 3:5-12, MSG).

…keep going; courageously walk off our maps and follow God’s leading, rising up in fearless obedience, locking eyes with Abba, who made us and knows us by name.

HE is not unknown to us nor we to Him.

Take the step.
