Welcome to

THE HOLY SCRIPTURES

Treasures Within The Word

I feel fortunate in that as a young child I was taught about the hero's of the Bible.

I was taught songs like "The B.I.B.L.E. Yes That's The Book For Me, Yes Jesus Loves Me, This Little Light Of Mine, Give Me Oil In My Lamp..... etc.

These stories, and songs were part of the many foundational building blocks that shaped my Christian walk.

There are many interesting stories in the Bible, not many people are aware of this fact. It's not just a bunch of Do's and Don't! This one begat that one...  The fire of God consumed them...

The Word of God has so much to offer. Stories of Intrigue, Hope, Miracles, Love Stories, Destiny, Promise, Murder, and so much more.

Can you believe this statement...?

Creationism Is Not Appropriate For Children. I had to scratch my head. So in our children's formative years of ALL the things Hollywood, Department of Education, and Society want to cram down our children's throats.......

It's the Bible that's inappropriate for them. Hmmmm and you wonder why morality, commitment, decency, and respect is falling by the wayside.

Joseph Stalin said: America is one generation from being an atheistic nation.

Parents are failing to teach their children the way of the Lord.

Families have stopped taking their children to the house of God.

Children aren't being taught to  pray the principles of morality as established by the word of God.

Parents are turning their children over to the state as early as possible for them to rear them.....

and the state has thrown out the Bible along with the 10 Commandments.

(Do you know that one of the marks or markers of socialism is to get the children away from the parents as soon as possible?)

I can easily see America falling into the crevice of non-belief like other nations, rotten to the core because our future generation is being separated from the word of God.

But you Dad and you Mom can instill the word of God into their minds as children. Read the Bible to them. Pray with them. Don’t depend on the school system and teachers to teach or train your children.

Teaching your children to Pray and Obey could save their lives.

Take time to know it for yourself, so you Can teach them!

Do you know that the Bible has far outsold any other book, with a whopping 3.9 billion copies sold over the last 50 years.

"Quotations from the Works of Mao Tse-tung" came in second with 820 million copies sold, and

"Harry Potter" came in third with 400 million copies sold.

This seems like a good place to add my favorite Bible stories....

Elijah the Tishbite

and the

Widow of Zarephath

A recounting of 1 Kings 17

In the days when Ahab ruled over Israel, a man named Elijah, a Tishbite from the rugged region of Gilead, appeared before the king. With the fire of conviction in his voice, he declared, "As surely as the LORD, the God of Israel, lives, the God before whom I stand, there will be neither dew nor rain in this land for years to come—until I speak the word."

After delivering this ominous message, the word of the LORD came to Elijah, instructing him to flee from the wrath of the king. "Go eastward," the LORD commanded, "and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, which lies east of the Jordan. You will drink from the brook, and I have ordered the ravens to bring you food."

Elijah obeyed without hesitation. He traveled to the brook Cherith and settled there, trusting in the provision of the LORD. Morning and evening, the ravens came, bringing him bread and meat, and he quenched his thirst from the clear waters of the brook.

But as the drought dragged, the brook eventually dried up, leaving Elijah without water. Then, once more, the word of the LORD came to him, saying, "Arise, and go to Zarephath, in the region of Sidon, and live there. I have commanded a widow in that place to provide for you."

Elijah rose and made his way to Zarephath. As he approached the gates of the city, he saw a widow gathering sticks. He called out to her, "Please bring me a little water in a vessel so that I may drink." As she turned to fetch the water, Elijah added, "And bring me a morsel of bread in your hand."

The widow paused and replied with a heavy heart, "As surely as the LORD your God lives, I have no bread—only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. I was gathering these sticks to prepare a final meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it and then die."

But Elijah, filled with compassion and faith, said to her, "Do not be afraid. Go and do as you have said, but first make a small cake for me and bring it to me. Afterward, prepare something for yourself and your son. For the LORD, the God of Israel, has spoken: 'The jar of flour will not be empty, and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the LORD sends rain upon the earth.

The widow obeyed and did as Elijah had instructed. And just as the LORD had promised, the jar of flour was never empty, nor did the jug of oil run dry. Day after day, she, Elijah, and her household ate and were sustained.

Sometime later, the widow's son fell gravely ill. The boy’s condition worsened until he stopped breathing. Stricken with grief, the widow turned to Elijah and cried, "What have you against me, O man of God? Have you come to remind me of my sin and cause the death of my son?"

Elijah gently took the lifeless boy from her arms and carried him to the upper room where he was staying. He laid the child on his bed and cried out to the LORD, "O LORD my God, have you brought tragedy upon this widow with whom I am staying, by causing her son to die?" Then, stretching himself out over the boy three times, Elijah pleaded, "O LORD my God, let this child's life return to him!"

The LORD heard Elijah's cry, and the life of the child returned. The boy revived, opening his eyes and drawing breath once more. Elijah carried the child back downstairs and placed him in his mother's arms. "See," Elijah said, "your son lives."

Overwhelmed with gratitude and awe, the widow exclaimed, "Now I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of the LORD from your mouth is the truth."

ELISHA

and the

WIDOWS OIL

II Kings 4:1-7

In a small village, a woman, the widow of a prophet, found herself in a dire situation. Her husband, a devoted servant of the Lord, had passed away, leaving her and their two sons behind. With no means to pay off her debts, a cruel creditor threatened to take her sons as slaves to settle the amount owed. In her desperation, the woman sought out the prophet Elisha, the man of God who had often guided her husband.

Tears in her eyes, she cried out to Elisha, "My husband, your faithful servant, is dead. You know he feared the Lord, but now the creditor is coming to take my two children as his slaves."

Elisha, moved by her situation, asked gently, "What can I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?" The widow replied sadly, "Your servant has nothing in the house except a small jar of oil."

Elisha saw an opportunity in her meager possession. "Go outside," he instructed her, "and borrow as many empty vessels as you can from your neighbors. Don’t gather just a few; gather as many as you can. Then, go inside your house, shut the door behind you and your sons, and start pouring oil into all the vessels. When each one is full, set it aside."

The widow, filled with a mixture of hope and disbelief, did as Elisha said. She and her sons went from house to house, borrowing every available vessel they could find. Once home, they shut the door behind them, and the woman began pouring the oil into the first vessel. Miraculously, the oil kept flowing, filling one vessel after another. Her sons brought her each vessel until everyone was filled to the brim.

"Bring me another vessel," she called out to her sons, but they replied, "There are no more." At that moment, the oil stopped flowing.

Overwhelmed with gratitude and amazement, the widow hurried back to Elisha and told him what had happened. Elisha smiled and said, "Go, sell the oil, and pay your debts, then you and your sons can live on what remains."
