“PEACE WITH EVERYONE”
Father, thank you for the revelation in this scripture. It is very comforting.
“As far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” Contemplate that. It does not say, ‘keep your opinion to yourself’, or ‘keep your mouth shut to keep peace with those that do not agree with you’. Nor does it say just tolerate actions you know are against God or harmful to men so you can live in peace with the Godless.’
No, it says, ‘if it is possible… live at peace.’
Actions that harm children, that are against God’s commands, that harm or hurt others, are not tolerable and we are to speak up and stand against them.
We must speak the truth, in love, and then let it be, no vengeance for us. Because … and this is the best part, we do not need to take revenge on those that hurt us or shut us down.
We don’t need to hold on to angry or the hurt others have caused us when we were expressing God’s truth. He will avenge us; he will repay the Godless for their acts against him.
We just need to make sure we are aligned with God’s ways and will, speak the truth, let it go, and walk away.
And then, if it is possible, as far as it depends on us, live at peace with them…
